La Reina del Sur #1 Entertainment Program in Los Angeles, Miami and Houston
MIAMI – March 2, 2011 – Telemundo’s “La Reina Del Sur” surpassed its Monday night premiere by 19% – which was the network's highest-rated original production premiere in Telemundo history – and beat Univision’s “Aqui Y Ahora” and Telefutura’s “India” in every demographic with nearly three million total viewers (2,841,000), according to Nielsen Media Research. “La Reina del Sur” – the most ambitious telenovela in network history filmed across four continents – delivered nearly 2 million (1,880,000) adults 18-49, up 23% from its premiere (vs. 1,534,000) and was the #2 program among all broadcast networks at 10pm in adults 18-34 and men 18-34, regardless of language.
Additionally, “La Reina del Sur” outperformed both Univision and Telefutura in adults 18-49 by 74% and 253%, respectively. The telenovela averaged 977,000 among women 18-49 (besting Univision by 73% and Telefutura by 280%) and among women 18-34, Telemundo beat Univision by 109% and Telefutura by 372%.
